All Your Eggs, One Basket

If one person can change your life overnight, your strategy isn't finished.

We’ve all done it.

You find a deal that looks perfect.

A long-term equity play.

A comfortable retainer.

A big project that promises the world.

It sounds great on paper.

It feels like security.

But it’s actually a trap.

I was talking to a client this week who put every single egg in one basket with no fallback.

When that basket broke, he was left with zero income and a rapidly drying cash pile.

Security isn’t a single big deal.

Security is a pipeline.

If you’re in a spot where you have plenty of leeway and no sense of urgency, you’re in a dangerous position.

You stop being aggressive.

You stop being intentional.

You stop building the fallback.

Strategy isn’t about what you do when things are going well.

Strategy is about what you have in place for when the “perfect deal” inevitably falls apart.

Never put yourself in a spot where one person’s decision can wipe out your entire life.

If your biggest client or project disappeared tomorrow, would you be fine, or would you be in “emergency mode” by Friday?
