Task-Managing vs. Discipling

Great leaders don't multiply completed tasks. They multiply capable people.

I see a lot of leaders get stuck in the “tasky” part of their jobs.

They focus on the technology, the logistics, and the checklist.

They think their value is in how much they can get off the ground.

But real leadership, especially in a team environment, isn’t about the tasks.

It’s about the people.

I was coaching a production leader who realized she was “half in, half out” because she was focusing on the tech.

But when she shifted her focus back to discipling her team, giving them advice, hearing their conversations, and actually leading them, she found her win.

She got sick, stayed home, and the team handled everything.

That only happens when you stop managing tasks and start building leaders.

If you’re still the only person who can get the job done, you haven’t built a team.

You’ve just built a group of people who watch you work.

Are you managing a checklist today, or are you actually discipling the people who are supposed to be running that checklist for you?
