The Parenting Litmus Test
Bad parents rarely lose sleep wondering if they're good parents.
If you have young kids and you feel like you’re failing, listen to me: You’re not.
I was coaching a dad who was beating himself up because his morning routine has collapsed and his kids’ behavior feels hectic.
He feels like he’s losing his consistency.
Here is the only litmus test you need to know if you’re a good parent: The fact that you care and are upset about it is the proof that you’re a good dad.
If you didn’t care, that would be the problem.
Parenting young kids is a brutal season.
The “Instagram perfect” routines are bullshit.
They’re putting up a front because easy sells.
Real life is messy, inconsistent, and exhausting.
Consistency isn’t about failing or succeeding.
It’s about keeping yourself healthy enough to handle the stress.
If you miss a day, you didn’t fail.
You just need to get back to it so you have the emotional fortitude to be the dad you want to be.
Stop beating yourself up.
You’re buying a house, you’re organizing your life, and you’re showing up.
That’s the win.
Are you judging your performance based on a social media highlight reel, or based on the fact that you’re actually there for the people who need you?
