You’re Not “Too Emotional”
The problem isn’t the emotion, it’s what you do next.
There’s a quiet pressure a lot of high performers carry:
“I shouldn’t feel this.”
You get triggered. You get distracted. Something small hits deeper than it should…
And your first reaction is:
“What’s wrong with me?”
Usually?
Nothing.
I was talking to someone who got triggered by a random comment.
Didn’t explode. Didn’t spiral. Just… got thrown off for a couple minutes.
And immediately thought:
“I need to fix this.”
But here’s the truth most people miss:
Feeling something…
is not the problem.
What you do with it is.
You don’t need to become a machine.
You don’t need to eliminate emotion.
You don’t need to be “perfectly stable” all the time.
That version of you?
Would probably destroy your relationships anyway.
Maturity isn’t:
“Never feeling anything.”
It’s:
“Feeling it… and still choosing your response.”
Let’s be real:
You’re going to get triggered sometimes
Old things will come up
You’ll have moments you don’t like
That’s part of being human.
The real work is simpler:
Did I react poorly?
Did I stay stuck?
Did I make it worse?
Or…
Did I feel it… and move forward?
Reflect on this:
Am I trying to remove emotions… or learn to handle them?
Where am I being too hard on myself for normal reactions?
What would “mature” actually look like in my next trigger?
You don’t need to be emotionless.
You need to be
self-aware and responsible
That’s a different game.
