The Middle Is Where Most People Win
Not exciting… but it’s where things tend to work
People like extremes.
All in. All out. Go big or go home.
But most real progress doesn’t happen there.
It happens somewhere in the middle.
I was talking through a financial decision recently.
Big chunk of money coming in.
And the question was simple:
Do you go all-in one way… or spread it out?
Pay off the house?
Invest it?
Hold it?
And like most things…
there wasn’t a perfect answer.
One path was safe.
Guaranteed return.
No stress.
No moving parts.
The other had more upside…
but more variables.
More things that could go wrong.
And this is where people get stuck.
They want the “right” move.
The one that maximizes everything.
Doesn’t exist.
There’s always a tradeoff.
More return usually means more risk.
More certainty usually means less upside.
The real question is…
what can you live with?
I’ve seen people go all-in on one side…
and regret it later.
Not because it was wrong…
but because it didn’t match how they actually think.
You have to know your own tolerance.
Your own patterns.
Your own tendencies when things don’t go perfectly.
That matters more than the math sometimes.
For a lot of people…
the answer isn’t extreme.
It’s balanced.
A little here.
A little there.
Enough to move forward…
without putting yourself in a position where one decision can mess everything up.
Not exciting.
But it works.
Where in your life are you chasing the perfect move…
instead of making a solid one you can actually live with?
